The KCS Bellringer is supplied with a software program on a CD.

The built-in clock of the computer handles the time.

For schools with Foundation Phase the Kcs-Bellringer can operate a Bell for the Foundation Phase and a siren for the main school. This has the advantage that the bell and siren operate at different times. This is easily controlled using the software program that we include for the PC.

Using the massive processing power available from a normal office computer we have designed an easy to use program that runs in the background of a Windows computer ®, which for everyday use requires no operator input. The program begins automatically when the computer is switched on.

The built-in clock of the computer handles the time.

Please don’t confuse our “state of the art product” with some of the more old fashioned timers that do not use a friendly computer program, and are difficult to program quickly when the ring times have to be changed. In many cases it has been our experience that these systems often fall out of use when the ring times have to be changed. These timers were not designed with schools in mind and are just general purpose units that had been used in the past as the best available on the market at the time.

During exam times and unforeseen delays in the timetable it is often necessary to change bell ring times. This function is easily handled using the KCS Bellringer.

We have provided an emergency button that overrides the computer function. This may be used by a pre arranged number of rings to indicate the specific emergency. Once the button has been released the bellringer program continues as normal.

  • KCS Bellringer is supplied with a software program on a CD. The program will operate on a normal pc using Windows. ®
  • A control box is supplied that is coupled to the PC via a USB cable connection.
  • The control box is powered by the USB connection. In the case of an existing installation the control box does not need 220v power.
  • Existing installation. 2 wires are provided from the control box that connects directly to the existing bell or siren switch. These 2 wires are isolated switch wires.
  • New installation. 2 wires that connect directly to the siren that provide a switched 220v. In this case the control box is supplied with a 220v 3 pin plug.
  • A word of caution here when installing! Disconnect the power by turning off the trip in the main distribution box as the switch wires in an existing installation will be live ~ .
  • The system gets its time from the clock in the computer so it is important that this time is set accurately.
  • Control box is of the latest design and use the latest type of surface mounted chips for the best reliability.
  • Switching capability is maximum 5Amps at 220v. ( Large sirens for distance of 1500 metre typically use 1.5Amps.)
  • “When ordering please state if the system is required for an existing installation or an existing one”

  • A copy of the timetable bell ringing time can be printed on a laser or inkjet printer that is coupled to the computer. Timetable bell ringing times can be planned in advance and printed for the staff.

  • Accurate bell ringing, with minimum management overhead.
  • Re scheduling with a changed time table is easy and quick.
  • Siren will last longer as the on time duty cycle is programmed and limited. NB. The on time is computer controlled. Excess on time causes damage to a siren, recommended cycle is maximum of 1 minute on and 8 minutes off.
  • Ring times can be printed using the office printer.

  • During exam times, it may be necessary to turn off the normal schedule and change to a different set of times. This is quick and easy.
  • During morning assembly a late start can cause the first period to be cancelled. Some schools prefer that all the periods be re-calculated with a proportionate reduction in time for each period so that no class is lost. Kcs bellringer fulfils this function as it easy to change times during the school day.

  • If the computer power is off the bellringer can be operated by the pushbutton
  • If the computer goes off, the ring data is still retained and will continue as normal when power is returned.
  • If all power is off nothing will function, but will return to normal when power is on.

  • CD with the bellringer program
  • Control box with 220v 3 pin plug, USB cable to connect to the computer, 2 wire cable for connecting to the siren
  • Instruction sheet.

  • We are in a position to install bellringer in most parts of the north west province and parts of the free state.
  • Other areas will require a computer literate person or technician, some basic electrical knowledge will also be required. Installation is straightforward using the instruction sheet provided.

Kcs bellringer controls a normal school bell or a siren. Bells or sirens vary in size. Kcs bellringer easily controls the larger sirens for 1500 m just as easily as the small sirens or bells.
